WHAT IS CBD?

Cannabidiol, commonly referred to as Noco CBD, is one of the main phytocannabinoids produced by the hemp plant. It is a non-psychoactive, oily/resinous compound that is naturally found in specialized glands on young leaves, stalks and in the flowering buds of the hemp plant.Noco CBD Noco CBD Noco CBD

HEMP HISTORY & OTHER USES

Hemp has been grown and cultivated for thousands of years across the world for a variety of industrial and medical uses. In fact, our early US founding fathers, including George Washington, grew hemp during our colonial period for sailcloths, ropes and paper. Until the hemp regulation of the 1930’s, even US pharmaceutical companies were using extracts of hemp & marijuana to provide pain relief, sedation and act as an antispasmodic.

HOW HEMP IS DIFFERENT FROM MARIJUANA?

Hemp is NOT marijuana, although they come from the same plant species, cannabis sativa. Both marijuana & hemp have phytocannabinoid molecules such as the psychoactive, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and non-psychoactive cannabidiol (CBD). Per federal laws, hemp must have less than 0.3% THC (2014 Farm Bill), whereas marijuana is known to have high concentrations of THC in its flowering buds. Both phytocannabinoids can interact with your body in amazing ways (because our body already produces endocannabinoids), however, currently THC is illegal at a federal level.

HOW HEMP IS DIFFERENT THEN THC?

CBD does not give users the same “high” that THC does. Thus, there is none of the “heady” fog or dysphoria that many people experience when using THC. Both compounds are found in their respective plants, however, CBD is found to be present in much greater %s within hemp plants.

WHAT'S THIS ENTOURAGE EFFECT I KEEP HEARING ABOUT?

The “entourage effect” is a term scientists use to describe the interaction between various compounds in cannabis. It is widely believed that when consumed together, certain cannabinoids and other compounds have more beneficial effect than when consumed independently.

WHAT IS TERPENES?

Terpenes are naturally occurring compounds produced by a variety of plants, and even some insects. Terpenes and terpenoids are responsible for the distinctive scents of pine trees, lavender, citrus fruits and all varieties of cannabis. The terpene profiles of the various strains of cannabis are incredibly diverse and influence the flavor, scent and overall character of each strain.

IS CBD AND THC THE SAME THING?

No, they are different compounds. CBD and THC are both cannabinoids, but THC produces psychoactive effects causing a drugged symptom commonly known as a “high”. Although all CBD extractions will contain some THC, our CBD hemp plants are selected, cultivated and processed to minimize THC content to trace amounts within regulatory limitations and are devoid of psychoactive effects.

Is this medical cannabis and do I need a doctor’s recommendation?

Because our CBD is derived from hemp and is non-psychoactive, and contains no thc a doctor’s recommendation is not necessary.

DO WE LAB TEST OUR PRODUCTS?

all empire extracts products are regularly tested in independent laboratories to ensure 99+% in purity. Lab reports available on request.

CAN I PASS A DRUG TEST USING WITH YOUR PRODUCTS?

YES. Fortunately, the urine drug screen for THC-COOH is known to have very little cross-reactivity to other cannabinoids that are not psychoactive, such as CBD (cannabidiol), CBG (cannabigerol), CBN (cannabinol), and others. This is good news for “normal” consumers of CBD/hemp oil.

That said, individuals using unusually large doses of a cannabinoid-rich hemp oil product (above 1000-2000 mg of hemp oil daily) could theoretically test positive during the initial urinary screen. Although very rare, the urine screen in these cases would likely represent a “false positive” due to other non-THC metabolites or compounds, which may cross-react with the immunoassay. When this is the case, the confirmatory GC/MS test would be negative, since CBD and other cannabinoids will not be detected by the more accurate (and specific) GC/MS screen.

How is hemp different from marijuana? Why grow hemp and not marijuana for CBD?

Both are Cannabis sativa plants, however, the level of THC and other compounds differ. Marijuana has been bred to achieve high levels of THC for its psychoactive effects. Hemp grown for medical use is cultivated and processed to extract CBD and other cannabinoid oils with the lowest possible level of THC so there are no psychoactive effects from the use of the plant.
